Overview

This training will provide participants with an overview of The Fair Labor Standards Act and how to mitigate the risk of employee misclassification.

Why you should Attend

Misclassifying an employee as an independent contractor is a serious matter. This is a common mistake that many organizations make which could have significant legal and financial repercussions including back taxes, fines, and penalties from regulators. Federal and State authorities are aggressively pursuing enforcement actions related to worker misclassification and therefore organizations must know the difference between an employee versus an independent contractor.

Intentional acts of misclassification could even result in an organization being investigated for payroll fraud, litigators filing class action lawsuits and even criminal charges that could result in jail time.
