Overview
Some people prefer more direct communication, while others prefer a more indirect approach. Some people’s main focus is on action and results, some on enthusiasm and influence, some more meditating and connection, and some on data and problem-solving. We may judge others for not having the same strengths or communication focus as ourselves, thereby creating false assumptions and division in relationships.
If our primary focus and style are different than others we work or live with, finding ways to bridge communication gaps is key to collaboration and productivity. Understanding and appreciating the different nuances of others can help us adjust our expectations and approach for more cooperation and teamwork.
Why you should Attend
In the multitude of communications in our personal and professional lives, we often find it easier to communicate and negotiate with people with communication styles similar to our own 1-2 dominant styles. We may not be able to connect with people with different communication styles because they have different priorities and a different “lens” of viewing the world than we do. However, we can learn to understand the focus and preferences of differing styles and learn to adjust our communication style so we find common ground and build more productive and harmonious relationships.
Participants dramatically increase their communication IQs by examining their own and others’ communication styles using the Personal Coaching Styles Inventory (PCSI). Similar to the popular DiSC instrument, the Personal Coaching Styles Inventory provides an understanding of the various styles and helps individual contributors, managers, and leaders to leverage and adapt their styles to communicate more effectively with clients, team leads, and colleagues.
