Overview

Participants will learn to recognize and proactively respond to the diverse beliefs, values, and attitudes of the five generations in the workplace. They will learn how to bridge communication gaps, learn to “flex” their style for more collaborative interactions to create more collaboration and productivity across multiple generations.

Why you should Attend

We are currently experiencing four very diverse generations working side by side in the workplace. The aging U.S. population stays in the workforce for longer periods while the demand for skilled, younger talent increases. These changes result in employees with diverse experiences and attitudes being thrown together in abrupt ways. This training provides the tools to help organizations understand the issues arising from this generational mix: respect for authority, diverse work ethics, integrating younger, informally trained workers
into the more traditional workplace, flexible work arrangements, and training older workers to accept and adapt to the changing work landscape.

Areas Covered in the Session

The modern workplace is a melting pot of generations, with Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z all coexisting. While this diversity offers unique perspectives, it can also lead to misunderstandings. To foster a harmonious and productive work environment, it's crucial to effectively manage generational differences. This course will provide practical tips to help employers navigate these challenges and capitalize on the strengths of each generation.

How to manage different generations in the workplace:

What is the generation gap?
One of the first steps in bridging the generation gap lies in understanding the different benefits, characteristics and values that each age demographic has to offer.

Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964)
Generation X (born 1965-1980)
Millennials (born 1981-1996)
Generation Z (born 1997-2012)

We will discuss a variety of best practice solutions to assist all generations in working in harmony. Participants will choose from a variety of actions to help build understanding, collaboration and harmony:

  • Effective and Flexible Communication
  • Creating Cross-Cultural Collaboration
  • Fostering a Culture of Inclusivity
  • Leveraging technology to facilitate communication, collaboration, and efficiency
  • Encourage leaders to be role models and set a positive example for the whole organization

Participants will leave with an understanding and an action plan on how to mitigate the generational divide and create a more integrative and educated workforce to leverage all generations of employees.
