Speaker Profile

Farzana Ismail Hons B.Sc. (Ergonomics Option), CCPE

Farzana Ismail is a Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist with a Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with the Ergonomics Option from the University of Waterloo.

Farzana has over 20 years applied ergonomics experience in musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risk assessments, physical / job / cognitive demands analyses (PDAs / JDAs / CDAs) and ergonomics training. Farzana has carried out a variety of projects in both office and industrial settings (including unionized environments) to prevent musculoskeletal injury and improve workplace productivity and performance.

During her employment with Enbridge Gas Inc., Farzana was primarily responsible for implementing and managing all aspects of the ergonomics program including the Office Ergonomics Representative process and awareness campaigns. She also worked with relevant departments to introduce engineering design changes to construction maintenance trucks, station lids, pin-off toolbox and dump truck steps as well as to address ergonomic risk factors in the design of new work areas (e.g. meter shop, mobile work area) and the purchase of new equipment (e.g. fully-adjustable seating in vehicles, night maintenance vehicles with standing clearance, monitor arms, office seating).
