Overview

This course will be based on the foundation of the Enneagram which is a simple, elegant and highly nuanced system which suggests that each of us experiences the world through one of nine lenses (personality types) which is founded on one central core motivation.

It is profoundly useful in helping us understanding ourselves and our spiritual paths and understanding others from their own point of view and not our projections onto them.

We will explore how each of us experiences life through one of nine basic personality types. What is the desire that drives us? How do we protect ourselves from pain? Through the observation of how our habits affect our lives and our relationships, we will identify those patterns of behavior which stand in the way of our personal growth, creativity and self-expression.

It is through the lenses of our personalities that we see the world, not as it is but as it appears to be. “Nothing is viewed clearly or objectively, but always through the intervening mist of likes and dislikes, partialities and prejudices, obsessions and idiosyncrasies.”

Thus, this lens can be said to limit our experience. Inherent in this lens is both a profound core belief about ourselves that we tend to avoid and a reaction or compulsion against that belief. Each reaction or compulsion limits us further in our ability to “see” clearly.

When we move through and beyond the mist of our lens, we access greater resourcefulness, freedom and choice.
We will explore how different Points, Centers and Subtypes relate to each other. Participants will have an opportunity to gain a much deeper understanding of their relationships and the assumptions underlying them.

Why you should Attend

Imagine being able to understand and navigate your habitual behaviors and the daily challenges that arise in relationships because you come to understand the assumptions of your world view and the very different world view of others, allowing you to operate more from a place of choice, and from that place of choice, gain insight and freedom so that your relationships are vibrant, satisfying, engaged, and loving.

The Enneagram is the key to this insight and freedom.

In this workshop, discover the Enneagram; a simple and powerful model that reveals the nine core lenses through which people see the world, the three centers of perception - the head, thinking, the heart, feeling and the belly, sensing and the three deepest instinctual drives- to connect, to belong and to be secure.

By developing your awareness of your own and others’ lenses, you will be better able to understand how misunderstandings in relationships occur and ways to keep them from happening. You and those you love will be happy you came!

Speaker Profile

Andrew Hahn, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist. He received his A.B. Magna Cum Laude in Social Studies/Psychology from Harvard University and his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Hahnemann University. He is certified by Helen Palmer to teach the Enneagram and has also been a faculty member in the graduate Counselling Programs at Lesley University and Northeastern University.

While Dr. Hahn’s strong foundation and significant experience in traditional psychology has served his clients well, he has been untiring in his effort to better understand what is going on for people so that he could better help them live more contented and healthier lives. This calling for greater understanding, as well as certain experiences which he could not fully comprehend within the confines of traditional Western paradigms, led him on a search for answers that opened him to the worlds of Buddhist and Eastern Psychology; Mystery Trainings; and Depth, Archetypal and Spiritual Psychology. During this period, Thich Nhat Hanh, Brugh Joy, Dick Olney, Helen Palmer, Barbara Hastings, and Claudio Naranjo were particularly influential and powerful teachers for him.

In 1997, after several years of witnessing the power of the work, Dr. Hahn developed the Life Centered Therapy Training program for those who want to facilitate and/or teach this process. Today, Dr. Hahn has a private practice in Waltham, MA; speaks, teaches and leads trainings and healing groups internationally; and continues his effort to better understand what is going on for people so that he can better help them live more contented and healthier lives.
